Jennifer Coren, PEL, LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor

Jennifer Coren, LCPC, PEL, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Professional Educator License

The most important part of my therapeutic process is the relationship I develop with my clients. It is my biggest priority to allow my clients to feel safe, supported, and secure enough to be themselves in the therapeutic environment. I will walk hand in hand with you to fully appreciate your experiences and identity, and will consider your unique, multidimensional story in helping you with your goals. You already possess skills to bring you closer to what you value and who you want to grow to be. I’ll help you to trust and tap into those skills.

A few topics I specialize in are relationships and communication, life transitions,
dating, career counseling, anxiety and stress management, millennials and emerging
adults, family conflict, and the gap between values and spirituality/religion.  Clients
enjoy my authentic, warm, and direct approach. Together we will create goals that will
implement change in leading a more meaningful life.

I understand that at different times, my clients may need different types of
intervention. Therapy is a collaborative process, and each individuals’ needs are
different. Together we will discover the most effective and beneficial approach for
your individualized care. I provide therapy using various techniques with scientific
evidence for proven effectiveness, including: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Existential Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
(ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Person Centered, Mindfulness-based approaches,
and more.

I have a certificate in The Effects of Child Maltreatment, which helps any individual
understand how their biology, thoughts, and feelings tie together and how it impacts
them in the present day. I’ve counseled individuals and groups, conducted career and
college counseling seminars in high schools, and worked in a health psychology lab.

There she worked in Human Resources managing Senior Software Engineers, and she gained corporate experience that fueled her interest in Career Counseling.  Jennifer moved back to Chicago earned her Master’s in Education in School and Community Counseling from Loyola University.
