Oren Azar, Marriage & Family Therapist

Oren is a Marriage and Family Therapist providing relational therapy to couples and individuals. He received his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Couples Therapy from the JFK School of Psychology and Social Sciences at National University.  Oren holds a bachelor’s from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Harvard Law School. 

Oren takes a systemic, integrative approach to therapy, incorporating cognitive, narrative, emotionally-focused, and solution-focused approaches.  working with couples, Oren uses the Gottman Method Therapy approach and has completed Level 1 and Level 2 training.

Oren is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). He is also a member of the Chicago Kink and Poly Aware Counselors and Therapists (KPACT).

Before becoming a therapist, Oren spent 30 years working as an attorney and corporate executive in the United States, England, Singapore, Indonesia and Taiwan.

Billing under the supervision of Jessica Waxman, LMFT, Oren is an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO.

I believe strongly in the capacity of people to learn, grow and change, regardless of their age or circumstances. My job as a therapist is to help support you and collaborate with you as you take the steps that will lead to the changes you want to achieve.
