About Me
I am a relationship therapist working with couples, individuals and other adult relationships. I believe strongly in the capacity of people to learn, grow and change, regardless of their age or circumstances. I aim to help clients clarify what changes to their lives and relationships would better meet their individual personalities, needs and wants. My job as a therapist is to help support you and collaborate with you as you take the steps that will lead to the changes you want to achieve.
In working with couples and other relationships, I focus on the central roles that communication and respectful conflict resolution play in enabling each person to feel seen, heard, and understood and have their needs met. I believe that both relationships and relationship therapy should be based on the unique needs of the individuals involved, and particularly enjoy working with clients who have the additional complexity of standing outside the main stream of majority experience and grapple with the additional challenges that can present, including LGBTQ+ clients, those exploring or practicing consensual non-monogamy, and immigrants or others living within two or more cultures.
If you choose to work with me, you can expect a relationship and working approach that reflects my core values, which prioritize fairness, understanding, openness, respect for autonomy, partnership, and acting with intentionality and thoughtfulness.
My approach to relational therapy integrates elements of Gottman Method Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Gottman Method Therapy and am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), and Chicago Kink and Poly Aware Counselors and Therapists (KPACT).
- Insurance : I am an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO, working under the supervision of Jessica Waxman, LMFT.
- Education : I received my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Couples Therapy from National University. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and my law degree from Harvard Law School.
