About Me
Hi there! I’m Naomi Kopinsky, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with a master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Loyola University New Orleans. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and demographics, especially children and adolescents, LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, and those with a history of trauma, OCD, and attachment disorders. My work is built on authenticity, collaboration, and client self-determination, with the goal of fostering a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe and encouraged to grow. It is within this welcoming environment that my clients have the freedom to explore their identities, worldview, and dominant life narratives, in aim of developing narratives that better serve them.
The foundations of my work are based in narrative theory: my clients and I pose as a united front against their main concerns, collaborating to find solutions that meet their values and achieve their goals. In my office, therapy doesn’t always need to feel heavy; we often find ourselves through joy, play, and genuine connections. My therapy style also draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT), and Exposure/Response Prevention (ERP) therapy for the treatment of OCD and specific phobias, among other person-centered modalities. The integration of these approaches provides a lens through which I can understand my clients’ concerns, their solutions, and a framework to conceptualize and better understand the obstacles they face in their lives. I look forward to meeting you!
