Grover Hollway, LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor
Grover received his Master’s degree at Northwestern University. He believes that effective therapy is created through rich, empathic relationships between client and therapist. He takes a dedicated interest in the holistic wellbeing of his clients, not just managing their symptoms. Grover approaches therapy as a means of building an individual’s emotional skillset, gaining knowledge about the self, and supporting growth and healing in the face of adversities.
Before beginning his Master’s in Counseling, Grover worked as a sound designer for theatre companies in the Chicago region and beyond. His work received a Joseph Jefferson Award in 2017.
Grover is candid, patient, and humorous. He embraces the notion that therapy should be fun and playful at times and difficult, painful work at others. He works with all gender identities ages 15 and up, with a focus on male clients over 40. His areas of specialty include:
- Interpersonal Issues
- Major Life Changes
- Depressive Disorders
- Anxiety Disorders
- Attachment Trauma
- Self-Esteem Building
- Grief and Loss
- Identity Development and Acceptance
- Religion and Spirituality
Billing under the supervision of Leah Seligman, Grover is an in-network provider for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois PPO.
Personal Statement:
Symptoms do not tell a story; people tell their story. I am passionate about building each clinical relationship on a foundation of trust, mutuality, consistency, and acceptance. To do so, I bring my authentic, inquisitive, caring, and often irreverent self to each session with you. My purpose is to sit with you through some deep discomforts and foster a desire for curiosity and self-discovery, rather than pressure you towards change. I love to go beyond the immediate psychological problems and build out a vibrant picture of your life, including artistic creativity, philosophical musings, physical fitness, and work-life balance. I come from an interfaith background, so I look to incorporate how your religious or spiritual experience may be in either promoting wellness or causing dissonance in your life.
